The design studio Wik & Walsøe invites you to visit the exhibition Contemporary Traditions at London Design Fair.

During the London Design Festival in September, the design studio Wik & Walsøe presents an exhibition exploring traditions and how they develop, at Superbrands, London Design Fair at the Old Truman Brewery – the creative heart of east London – from 21 to 24 September 2017.

Small and almost imperceptible changes gradually nudge established tradition towards the future. These changes, hardly noticeable although essential to preserve what is apparently immovable, make them relevant for and loved by future generations.

Designer Linda Walsøe has long been fascinated by tradition, something not least reflected in Wik & Walsøe’s aim to design products that resonate with people, and with lasting sentimental value. In Contemporary Traditions, she turns the design studio into an exciting artistic universe centering on a maternal table as the womb that creates smaller tables, which again become wombs for new life. Like ripples on the surface the tables multiply. In them lies our heritage, the basis on which tradition is built.Linda Walsøe explores and challenges the immovable element of tradition, while at the same time illustrating how we must change and adapt them in order to make them relevant in our time.

The design trade at The Old Truman Brewery, is widely regarded as one of the most forward thinking meeting places for design during London Design Festival, which this year takes place from the 21st to the 24th of September. In the creative heart of East London both established designers and emerging talent come together in a dynamic and inspiring meeting place.

The Norwegian design studio Wik & Walsøe was established in 2006. In only a few short years they managed to make their mark as a distinctive new voice within fine porcelain and glass production. Wik & Walsøe is now a major brand in the Norwegian and Scandinavian market, and their products are sold in selected stores internationally. Wik & Walsøe aim to design products that resonate with people, and have lasting sentimental value. In 2013 Wik & Walsøe were awarded the Female Entrepreneur of the year prize by Innovation Norway.
