With the launch of Falla, a series consisting of four vases and a bowl, the design studio Wik & Walsøe expands their glass universe, colouring it with inspiration from Arctic flora and fauna.
FALLA – a droplet of Nordic nature
Picture the beautiful shape of a droplet of water hanging on the end of a leaf, the slight tremble one barely registers, before the drop with a slight sigh lets go and starts its journey towards the ground. The name Falla – from Old Norwegian and the Icelandic language – alludes to precisely this falling droplet, shaped by nature itself.
The series consists of three vases and one bowl. The Arctic flora and fauna inspire the colours, with nuances of moss green, ice blue and dusty pink. Some of the vases are translucent, while others have a white interior which brings to mind a frosty pond in the midst of winter.
Delicate while still strong
The shape of the Falla-series is generous yet tender, delicate while still strong. Skilled and experienced glassblowers in the Bangkae area of Thailand shape every product in the series by hand.
The Norwegian design studio Wik & Walsøe was established in 2006. In only a few short years they made their mark as a distinctive new voice within fine porcelain and glass production. Wik & Walsøe is now a major brand in the Norwegian and Scandinavian market, and their products are sold in selected stores internationally. Today the Wik & Walsøe universe consists of nine tableware series, complimented by vases, bowls and candle holders, two glassware series and a series of glass vases and bowls. Wik & Walsøe aim to design products that resonate with people, and have lasting sentimental value. In 2016 Wik & Walsøe celebrated their tenth anniversary.
